THE BEST REMEDY FOR HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE

Did you know that over 60 million Americans have high blood pressure? That means that 1 out of every 4 Americans over the age of 18 has high blood pressure. THAT’s ASTOUNDING!!!...and SCARY!!!

I’m sure you’ve heard all the scoop on factors that contribute to high blood pressure…..age, race, being overweight, smoking, birth control pills, alcohol consumption, drugs, and lack of exercise. Some of these factors we can change and some we can’t.

10% of high blood pressure is caused by other diseases and 90% of the causes are unknown. The really unnerving part of high blood pressure is that most times the symptoms are mild and non-specific so you may have it and not know it. That’s why it is referred to as the “Silent Killer”.

Some people will experience headaches, dizziness, blurred vision or nausea. But the worst part of high blood pressure treatment is the drugs that are prescribed to lower it. Side effects of these drugs range from constipation and drowsiness to diarrhea, heartburn, swelling around the eyes, heart palpitations….and who knows what else!

I WENT THROUGH THIS about eight years ago….I had the experience of moderately high blood pressure but I didn’t want to take any of those drugs so ….I decided to take the natural approach – MEDITATION - and it WORKED!

MEDITATION is very relaxing, calming and leaves one with the feeling of being happy and content. Warm and fuzzies are wonderful!! It’s simple…..Try it:

Sit cross-legged on a cushion on the floor or in a comfortable chair. If you’re in a chair, make sure your feet are flat on the floor and your hands are on your lap. If you’re sitting cross-legged, place your hands on your lap or on your knees. Close your eyes and BREATHE.

Count your breaths…..breathe in…..Count 1. Breathe out. Breathe In….Count 2. Breathe out. See if you can breathe and count to 10 without any stray thoughts coming into your mind. If they do, acknowledge them and go back to your breathing….starting over at 1.

Don’t try to stop the thoughts…..you won’t be able to and the more you try, the more they will come. Just relax, be with yourself, and enjoy it. Practice….practice…practice. Your mind will become calmer and your body will be so much more relaxed; therefore, your spirit will be happier. It’s a WIN-WIN-WIN situation for your entire self. And your family and friends will thank you!
